BOOSTER SEAT LAW
July 1, 2008 the law will be enforced for children who weigh at least 40 lbs to use a booster seat until age nine or until they are 4'9" tall. By that time, a child can sit with his back straight against the vehicle's back cushion, with knees bent over the seat edge without slouching.
This law is for the safety of the children as adult safety belts do not provide adequate protection for small bodies. Studies show that injuries are much higher when children between 4-8 years old were wearing an adult seatbelt.
The law also requires rear-facing infant seats must also be positioned away from airbags until at least 12 months old or 20 lbs.
